AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
Hey guys, I am back with my next blog post. As I talked about before about scanning my programs with AVG, well now I will wrote a review on AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. If you guys out there download from Cnet’s download.com, you may have noticed that AVG is the top program downloaded as it should be. This is your average anti-virus program on steroids, by the way you can check out AVG here http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition. AVG will do all of the uses of a regular anti-virus but for free, and I’ll say it does it good. On my machine I am running both Norton Internet Security 2006, and AVG anti-virus free edition 8. When I ran one of my monthly virus scans, Norton did not find anything, but since I noticed my machine a bit sluggish, I decided to get AVG. AVG, did take a lot longer to scan my computer, but it found two viruses which I think were the culprits for my sluggish computer. Now to give a run down of what the FREE edition gives you, if you want to see what the paid editions give you, check out their website. The free edition gives you
- Anti-Virus (protects against viruses, worms, and trojans)
- AntiSpyware (protects against spyware, adware, and identity-theft)
- Safe Search (checks search links, before you click them for viruses, worms, etc.)
I also have to mention that this anti-virus is updated everday for the best protection you can get. Once you get the program, it gives you options when to update, when to the daily system scans, (these features can be turned off), all of these features and more are controlled by the programs new tab style menu. So in the end, I say that AVG is a thumbs up for any Mac, and Windows user.
